Hi!
I'm Stan. Generally, I am a laid-back easy going fellow, enjoy being with people,
but also enjoy a good book in front of a warm fire (if alone), or good company (you), a glass of wine, and that warm fire
on a rainy or snowy eve. ( yes, I romantisize a little...) Although I appreciate that the lady that I am with is my equal, I still enjoy opening doors, assisting her with seating, and other small courtesies that show my appreciation of her great company! My best match, I believe, would
be an attractive, slender woman, who knows how to care for herself, but would not be considered 'high maintainance' (don't
you hate that word?...). I place considerable value on intelligence and common sense. Education is a plus. Most
importantly, however, I value decency and
honesty. I'm not looking for a world-traveled model - just simply an attractive, smart, relaxed lady, willing to take my arm,
and take on the world for the adventures
it has to offer!
About Me : I'm a semi-retired ER physician,
lived, practiced in Santa Barbara for the last twenty years, then returned to B'field
after being divorced 5 years ago, to help
care for a dying parent (close family). I
have two beautiful daughters, one reasonably near graduation from UCLA
(three years thru UCLA with Honors!), and
my younger one is a senior at Santa Barbara High (she is a brilliant, beautiful artist... really! I'm completely objective about my kids... :-) ). I stay in close contact with both. Friends have described
me as quite bright, damn good looking for
someone who's only 5'6", and always even tempered (it takes so much work to
make me mad, that it's really not worth it).
I'm a friendly shy at first, but once we know each other, I'm a respectful tiger (as
long as you are too!). I have strong morals,
am repelled by the idea of abusive relationships, and would NEVER do anything to hurt or injure a woman or loved-one ( or anyone else, except, perhaps for protection of my family / loved-ones, or self-protection from a stranger ).
Good lord, almost sounds like legalese,
doesn't it? So we move on...
So, 1860 letters to go... Ohhh! We don't have to fill up the whole thing! What a relief. Oh, sense of humor... I've been told
that I can sometimes tell a pretty good joke,
when I can remember the punch line...
And I've been called over-educated, but not
arrogant - I've never figured out if that was
supposed to be a compliment... or not. Hobbies, interests, well, almost everything.
I've never really lost my childhood curiosity,
for some reason. Take that as you may...
don't worry, I won't embarrass you! I exercise regularly, and manage to stay
fairly trim and fit ; some muscles, but not
buldging. I DON'T like to sit on the couch, watch TV, and drink beer. Actually, I rarely
drink alcoholic drinks - don't like the feeling,
unless I'm with someone I know well.
Well, I've rambled almost 3000 / 4000 possible 'characters'. Do I get extra credit?
